Bell Square: Community Cohesion Research Project

This report by COaST (Canterbury Christ Church University) looks at the relationship between community cohesion and developing new audiences for the arts via a programme of regular outdoor events in Bell Square in Hounslow. The research was commissioned by Watermans and the London Borough of Hounslow. This case study outlines the Heart of Glass 'Your Name Here' project with artist Joshua Sofaer.


It explores how the project engaged the community in a discussion about citizenship and civic pride. You can also download the final submissions made by members of the public, in a special supplement produced by St Helen's Star newspaper.

Audience Profiling and Mapping Year 2

These Audience Agency reports analyse the audiences we reached in year 2 of the programme (January to December 2015).


Audience postcode data is analysed using Mosaic profiling, Audience Spectrum profiling and profiling by social grade. The event type report explores the audience profile by event type, including location, cost, artform, participation, type of venue and time of day.


Headline findings

  • In year 2 Creative People and Places (CPP) reached 456,138 participants.
